Amendments
Amendments (by MehVahdJukaar) is a large grab-bag of small vanilla-block tweaks rather than a themed content set, and the pack’s amendments-common.json/amendments-client.json have nearly every tweak turned on. Highlights actually enabled here: carpet stairs/slabs, wall-mountable and swinging (physics-simulated) lanterns, hanging flower pots, a tripwire-hook tool holder, skull piles/skull candles, directional and stackable “double” cakes, ceiling-mountable banners, chain-hung bells (chain_length = 16), swinging hanging signs with real pendulum physics, and 3D snowball/slimeball/fireball projectiles. The standout system is the enhanced cauldron: it supports in-world and hand crafting, dyeing water, and mixing up to 8 potion effects together (potion_mixing_limit = 8), with an explicit table of “inverse” potion pairs (e.g. Speed↔Slowness, Strength↔Weakness) presumably used for effect-cancellation recipes. A “Quill” writing tool for books adds bold/italic/underline/strikethrough/obfuscated text formatting with colored ink — a genuine functional addition, not just decoration.
How you’ll use it here
Amendments quietly makes vanilla decorating feel finished: carpet slabs/stairs for soft floor detailing, hanging flower pots and wall-mounted swinging lanterns for exterior trim, chain-hung bells and hanging signs with real pendulum sway on porches and shopfronts, and ceiling banners in halls. For a lived-in interior, lean on skull piles/candles, double stackable cakes on a table, and the enhanced cauldron as a functional centerpiece (dyeing water, mixing potions in-world). The Quill is a genuine tool — use it to write formatted, colored-ink books for signage or lore drops in a build.
Anticipated questions
Do I need Amendments installed client-side? Generally yes — it changes how many vanilla blocks render (swinging lanterns, 3D projectiles, hanging signs with physics), so it typically needs to be present on the client to display correctly. It’s bundled in the pack, so everyone here has it.
How many potion effects can I stack in the cauldron? Up to 8 (potion_mixing_limit = 8), and the config lists inverse pairs like Speed↔Slowness and Strength↔Weakness that cancel each other.
Is the Quill just cosmetic text? No — it’s a functional writing tool adding bold/italic/underline/strikethrough/obfuscated formatting with colored ink to books, so it’s useful for real in-game signage and lore, not just decoration.
