Chipped (by Alex Nijjar, Grimbop, Kekie6, ThatGravyBoat — tagline “Every block needs a friend!”) is the single largest content mod in the Building & Decoration category: its en_us.json carries 7,258 lang entries. The bulk of that count comes from combinatorial variant generation — barrels, crates, mosaics, panels, shavings, and torches are each generated for essentially every wood type present in the modpack, including woods added by other mods (e.g. Ad Astra’s froglight variants show up as block.chipped.ad_astra_*_froglight). The result is that almost any base material in the pack — vanilla or modded — gets a matching set of small decorative furniture-adjacent blocks (torches, trapdoors in “airy” style, mosaic planks, shaving textures) rather than builders being limited to oak/spruce/etc.
There’s no dedicated config file for Chipped in config/ and no Patchouli guidebook — it’s pure block-variant content, discovered through the creative menu/JEI rather than an in-game manual. Because Chipped’s blocks are hand-crafted (not autocrafted), the companion mod Chipped-Express exists specifically to make this enormous catalog machine-craftable.
How you’ll use it here
Chipped is your palette-expansion mod: almost any base material in the pack — vanilla or modded — gets a matching set of small decorative blocks (barrels, crates, mosaics, panels, shavings, torches, airy-style trapdoors), so you’re not stuck with plain oak/spruce when detailing a base. Browse the variants through the creative menu or JEI (there’s no guidebook), pick the mosaics and panels that fit your theme, and use them to add texture variety to walls, floors, and trim. Because every variant is hand-crafted at a table, plan ahead for large builds — for mass quantities of one variant, route it through Chipped-Express with AE2 or Create autocrafting.

Where’s the Chipped guidebook or config? There isn’t one — Chipped ships no config file and no Patchouli manual here. It’s pure block-variant content, so you discover everything through the creative menu or JEI.
