Create: Steam ‘n’ Rails
Create: Steam ‘n’ Rails (v1.7.2) is the official expansion to Create’s train and rail system, adding the Track Station (which lets a Deployer holding a Wrench automatically assemble or disassemble a train just by hitting the station — useful for fully automated depots when paired with a hopper feeding the deployer a wrench) and the Big Buffer for handling heavier rolling stock at the end of a line. Train Casings let players press the “Open Bogey Menu” key to pick from different wheel/bogey styles per car, changing how a locomotive looks and handles.
The bulk of the mod, however, is Locometal — an enormous decorative block palette (the mod’s lang file alone runs over 200 KB) covering boilers, smokeboxes, windows, doors, ladders, flywheels, pillars, trapdoors, vents, and hazard-stripe panels, each available in a full set of dyeable colors and material finishes (riveted, plated, slashed, wrapped in brass/copper/iron). In practice this turns Create’s steam trains from a functional system into a genuine model-railroading palette — building a locomotive’s exterior livery is closer to designing a vehicle skin than placing a handful of functional blocks.
