Gadgets

A grab-bag chapter about the “unique and quirky items/blocks in Prominence” — many of them useful even for the tech mods. No strict progression; just discover and craft the gadgets you want. See Quality-of-Life & UI Mods and Tech & Automation Mods.

Notable gadgets

Ore & resource tricks

  • Copper Pan — an early-game alternative to tech-mod ore farms: put sand/gravel below and water above, and it rarely generates ore nuggets, gravel, emeralds, and misc items.

Effect & filter blocks

  • Blank Plates → Effect Plates — step on an Effect Plate to get its effect. Make plates by striking Blank Plates with lightning.
  • Damage Plate — hurts mobs down to 1 HP but never kills, perfect for a Looting IV sword (“hurt mobs, but kill them yourself”). Plates don’t apply enchants — your weapon does.
  • Mob Filters — blocks only certain entities can pass through (more than just player filters).
  • Cog Blocks (Supplementaries) — act like redstone but can be placed in mid-air.

Movement

  • Gliders (Kibe) — affordable, one of the best ways to traverse large areas before the End (“not quite flying, not quite falling”).
  • Levitation Block — a limited zone of creative flight (alternatives: Flügel Tiara, Gravichestplate).
  • Earthdive Spear — pass through a wall without hurting your head.

Utility & base blocks

  • Trash Can — deletes unwanted items (“apex predator of an unorganized base”); also a handheld version.
  • Animal Feeding Trough — auto-feeds your animals.
  • Waxing Staff — wax blocks without doing it by hand.
  • Quiver (Supplementaries) — store lots of arrows.
  • Mob Ward (Bosses of Mass Destruction) — stops hostile spawns in a large area.
  • Spawn-blocking torches — one stops animal spawns, another stops aquatic spawns (handy for a trident farm).

Anticipated questions

  • Early ore source without a tech mod? The Copper Pan (sand/gravel below, water above) slowly yields nuggets and odds and ends.
  • How do I make Effect/Damage Plates? Strike Blank Plates with lightning.
  • Best pre-End travel gadget? A Glider.
  • Do the damage plates use my sword’s Looting? Plates don’t apply enchants; they just leave mobs at 1 HP so you land the killing blow with your enchanted weapon.
