Nether Depths Upgrade
By Scouter — gives the Nether’s lava seas an actual ecosystem, turning “swim through lava” from a death sentence into a survivable (with prep) activity worth doing. Adds an entire school of lava-dwelling fish: Blazefish, Bonefish, Wither Bonefish, Eyeball Fish, Fortress Grouper, Glowdine, Lava Pufferfish, Magma Cube Fish, Obsidianfish, Searing Cod, and the hostile Soul Sucker. Each is genuinely useful, not just decorative — they can be fished with a dedicated Lava Bobber (a lava-compatible fishing rod bobber) and brewed/bottled into potions: Potion of Lava Vision (see clearly underlava), Potion of Glowing (from Glowdine), Potion of Wither (from Lava Pufferfish), and Potion of the Steadfast Treader (a resistance effect, from Obsidianfish) — each available as base, splash, lingering, and tipped-arrow variants.
The mod also adds a new enchantment, Hell Strider, which grants speed and ease of movement while swimming through molten rock, plus new blocks: Crimson/Warped Kelp and Seagrass (lava-safe aquatic plants), Lava Glass, and Lava Sponges (regular and “wet”) for soaking up lava the way vanilla sponges soak up water. No server-side config override exists — it runs at shipped defaults.
