Bewitchment
Bewitchment is the witchcraft-and-rituals mod: brews, poppets, altars, chalk circles, demon-trading, and vampire mechanics. This chapter (“Witch’s First Steps”) sets you on the witch’s path. See Magic & Spells Mods. The in-game Book of Shadows is the deep reference — read it for details.
Walkthrough
- The four magic trees — Gather from Bewitchment’s special trees, each with future uses:
- Tree of Blood — bleeds out; found in Nether Fortresses.
- Tree of Knowledge — found scattered in forests.
- Tree of Death — smells of death; found in taigas and swamps.
- Tree of Life — found in savannas.
- A Witch’s Knife — essential for rituals and scratching (harvesting) trees; take care of it.
- Taglocks & essences — a Taglock binds a target (player) to a ritual; Ghost Essence (ghost goop) is another ritual ingredient.
- The Altar — carries the magical energy for rituals. Increase its capacity by decorating it with the right materials and planting more trees around it.
- Ritual kit — a Brazier (cursing, incense, rituals), Chalk (draw the activation circle — keep one of each type), Salt (wards off spirits/demons; good for barriers), and Garlic.
- Cauldron & brews — the Cauldron brews potions from grown/scraped ingredients (and makes “wine”).
Notable items & rewards
- Poppets — curse or protect a target depending on use (multiple types); store them on Poppet Shelves.
- Witch outfits — the Besmircher (disguise to trade with demons), the Alchemist clothing (doubles brew durations), the Hedgewitch clothing (increases crop bounty).
- Demon materials — Demon Hearts and Demon Parts (from killing demons/demonhounds) craft powerful magical items; Vampire’s Bed (a coffin) lets a player sleep through the day until night.
- Utility blocks — mob-spawn blocker (24-block radius), a teleport wall-light (64-block radius), springboard/firewall/blocking brambles, and Witchberry brambles whose fruit restores magical energy.
