Botania

Botania is the pack’s nature-magic tech tree, built entirely on mana generated and moved by flowers. This chapter takes you from your first Lexica Botanica through mana generation, Runic Altar crafting, Terrasteel gear, and an endgame boss with a hard mode. See Magic & Spells Mods. Tip from the chapter: check the Advancements for extra hints.

Walkthrough

  1. Seedling’s First Steps — Craft the Lexica Botanica (the in-game guide, essential to progress), a Flower Pouch (keeps collected flowers out of your main inventory), and a Petal Apothecary (crafts many early Botania items).
  2. Purification — Use a Pure Daisy to transform logs/stone into more sophisticated crafting materials.
  3. Generate mana — Build the tools of the trade: Wand of the Forest (commands/redirects mana blocks — “You’re a Druid, Harry!”), Mana Pool (stores mana), Mana Spreader (transfers mana wirelessly to nearby mana-holding blocks; aim it with the wand), and a Mana Tablet (portable mana battery, ~half a pool each). Experiment with the different generating flowers.
  4. Functional flowers — Create a flower with a unique function, then branch into rituals and creations using different flora.
  5. Runic Altar & Runes — The Runic Altar (connected to a mana pool) crafts Runes used in many recipes. The Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate infuses three mana-dipped objects into a new ingot, consuming half a mana pool’s capacity — the ritual is wasted if the items aren’t on the plate.
  6. Terrasteel — Craft the expensive Terrasteel Ingot, then work through Manasteel gear before it.

Gear progression & rewards

  • Manasteel Tools / Armor — better than iron, self-repair using mana.
  • Manaweave Armor — cheaper mana upkeep than the manasteel set, but weaker defense.
  • Terrasteel Armor — stronger than manasteel, and passively charges Mana Tablets in your inventory.
  • Terrasteel weapons (3) — stronger than their manasteel variants; also rank up your Terra Shatterer pickaxe. Its highest rank is the Earthshaker (“drill through the heavens and the earth”).
  • Upgraded Mana Spreaders — the Elven-tier spreader has higher payout; the best one is slower but pays out the most. Try different lenses on your spreaders.

Boss & hard mode

Defeating the chapter’s boss grants rewards and a chance at an artifact (collect them all). There is a hard mode that re-fights the boss for more rewards — the quest teases doing it without armor / without creative mode.

Anticipated questions

  • Where’s the in-game guide? The Lexica Botanica — craft it first, it explains every block.
  • My Agglomeration Plate ritual failed. The items must be on the plate, and you need half a mana pool’s worth of mana; otherwise the ritual is wasted.
  • Manasteel vs Manaweave vs Terrasteel? Manasteel = your first real set; Manaweave = cheaper mana cost, less defense; Terrasteel = strongest and charges tablets passively.
