Collectibles

The Explorer’s Journal chapter — a collection hunt for “items that you wouldn’t actively find.” It’s framed as three god- and captain-themed collecting quests: fishing up specimens for Poseidon, chasing down the drowned Captain Cornelia’s sea loot, and gathering scattered plant life for Demeter. It’s optional side content rather than main-story progression; you fill in the sets as you naturally explore, fish, and farm. See Quality-of-Life & UI Mods and FTB Quests.

Walkthrough

  1. Begin the Hunt. Open the chapter’s intro quest (“Hello young explorer! Welcome to the Explorer’s Journal…”) to unlock the three collection lines.
  2. Poseidon’s Aquarium — go fishing. Poseidon “has lost all of his fish for his personal aquarium,” so find and fish up new specimens for the God of the Sea. This includes a Nether Depths’ Fish sub-set — the fish you catch down in the Nether’s lava seas (lava pufferfish, obsidianfish, searing cod, bonefish, wither bonefish, magmacube fish, glowdine, soulsucker, fortress grouper, eyeball fish, and the long-lava-vision specimen). Complete the collection to earn the Sea God’s Fisher reward (“You have done the God of the Sea a huge favor!”).
  3. Captain Cornelia’s Treasure Hunt. Cornelia “sailed until she fell into the depths of the freezing oceans” — you have to be “daring enough to find her ship and take her treasures.” This line branches into several sets:
    • Send her to rest — use a special trinket you find to “call the Captain back from the dead” (the quest warns: “Beware the dead”).
    • Captain Cornelia’s Armor — the set she “wore to survive the freezing depths”; collect the whole set to dive deep yourself.
    • Armor of a Sea Terror — a pufferfish-like set “for those who love being reckless and fighting underwater.”
    • Terrors of the Ice Maze — take down the freezing, massive Ice Maze and its ocean depths, and return with the spoils.
    • Captain Cornelia’s Hideout — once found, search it for her hidden treasure.
    • Sea Dog Weaponry and Abyssal Sea Weaponry — the crew’s lost weapons (“if you stare at the abyss, the abyss stares back at you”).
    • Minecraft’s Aquatics — a “classic set of aquatic life, from Minecraft itself.”
  4. Demeter’s Garden — gather crops. Demeter “has left her plant life scattered across the world” and rewards anyone who gathers it. Fill three sub-collections: Croptopia Seeds (a large variety of crops), Croptopia Trees (fruit-tree varieties), and Delight Crops (a smaller set, but “found fairly quickly”).

Tips

  • This is a fishing/exploration/farming completionist chapter — much of it fills itself in as you play the other chapters, so don’t grind it in isolation.
  • The Cornelia line is tied to cold-ocean and Ice Maze content, so it pairs naturally with underwater/frost exploration; her armor is themed around surviving “the freezing depths.”
  • Nether Depths fish are caught in the Nether’s lava, not overworld water — bring the gear to fish and survive down there.
  • Delight Crops is the quickest of Demeter’s three sets to finish if you want an early completion.

Anticipated questions

  • What kind of chapter is this? A collection chapter — the “Explorer’s Journal” for gathering items you wouldn’t otherwise seek out, split into Poseidon (fish), Captain Cornelia (sea loot), and Demeter (crops).
  • Who rewards me? The sea god Poseidon (the “Sea God’s Fisher” reward for finishing his aquarium) and Demeter, the Goddess of Harvest and Agriculture, for gathering her plant life.
  • Where do the Nether Depths fish come from? They’re fished up in the Nether’s lava seas, not overworld water — a distinct sub-set within Poseidon’s Aquarium.
  • What is Captain Cornelia? A captain who “fell into the depths of the freezing oceans”; her quest line has you find her ship and hideout and collect her armor, weapons, and treasure.
  • Is this required for the main story? No — it’s an optional collecting journal you fill in alongside normal exploration, fishing, and farming.
