Mutant Monsters

Mutant Monsters (v8.0.8, by shcott21, Chumbanotz, Fuzs and tdstress — the long-running “Mutant Creatures” successor) adds oversized, drastically buffed variants of five vanilla mobs: Mutant Creeper, Mutant Enderman, Mutant Skeleton, Mutant Snow Golem, and Mutant Zombie (plus a Mutant Zombie Villager and the joke/secret “Spider-Pig”). Each has its own dangerous signature mechanic — the Mutant Creeper detonates in a chain of smaller “Creeper Minions,” the Mutant Enderman teleports and splits into Endersoul Fragments/Clones, the Mutant Skeleton dual-wields and fires volleys, and so on. These are rare, high-threat overworld/nether encounters rather than common mobs: in this server’s mutantmonsters-common.toml, every mutant’s spawn weight is set to just 0.05% of its vanilla counterpart’s weight, so they spawn in any biome/dimension their vanilla base mob can, but extremely infrequently.

The mod also adds a “Mutant X” infection mechanic — per mutantmonsters-server.toml, hitting a target with the right potion effect can transform a vanilla creeper/enderman/skeleton/snow golem/zombie/pig into its mutant (or, for pigs, the Spider-Pig) form on the spot, rather than only encountering them via natural spawns. An Endersoul Hand item lets players teleport up to 128 blocks. Because mutant creepers still explode and can grief blocks/entities even inside Open Parties and Claims-protected land, this pack pairs Mutant Monsters with the small compatibility mod Mutant Creepers No Explody, which specifically suppresses that griefing inside claimed areas.
