Reforging

This chapter teaches reforging — changing an item’s rarity/quality, a core progression loop. The system note Gear Rarity & Reforging covers the same mechanic in the vault; this guide follows the quest chapter specifically. See also Artifact Reforging for artifact-tier weapons.

What is reforging?

Tools, armor, and weapons have a quality (rarity). Reforging changes it. Do it in the Reforging tab of an Anvil, which has three slots:

  • Left — Base Material: tied to the item itself (e.g. a Holy Wand needs a Gold Ingot). Hover the reforge button after placing your item to see what it requires.
  • Middle — Base Item: the item to reforge. Only tools, weapons, and armor are reforgeable.
  • Right — Reforge Material: determines the quality range you can roll (three tiers below).

Reforge Material tiers

TierMaterialWhere / howQuality range
T1Limestone ChunkOverworld — craft from 4× Limestone Blocks (→4) or 4× Diorite Block (→4)up to Epic
T2Pyrite ChunkNether — craft from 4× Pyrite Dust (→1, dust from Pyrite Ore) or smelt Ancient Debris (→4)up to Legendary
T3Galena ChunkEnd — craft from 2× Galena Dust + 2× Popped Chorus Fruit (→1); End Stone can substitute for the dust. Galena Dust is found in deep Overworld cavesup to Mythic

Increasing your chances

It’s not all grinding — Luck improves your odds at higher qualities. Stack passive luck items, luck potions, luck trinkets, wine, etc.

The long grind

  • Become a Mythic Blacksmith — reforge 100 Mythic items (“Eternal Challenge”) to earn the “Piece of Eternal Knowledge” reward (Eternal Knowledge: Of Blacksmithing).

Anticipated questions

  • What can I reforge? Only tools, weapons, and armor.
  • What decides the quality I get? The Reforge Material tier (Limestone → Pyrite → Galena). The Base Material (left slot) is a per-item ingredient, not the quality driver.
  • How do I hit Mythic? Use Galena Chunk (T3) and stack Luck to improve the roll.
  • Practical order? Limestone early, Pyrite mid-game, save Galena for pushing your best gear to Mythic.
