Death Knights
A dark-magic-and-melee hybrid archetype explicitly “inspired by World of Warcraft,” sitting outside the pack’s main five archetypes (Archetypes & Builds). Adds three Tier II spellbooks (per the e_spell_books quest chapter) built around a shared theme of Runeblades and Runeaxes (Iron/Diamond/Netherite/Ruby/Aeternium, plus one-handed and Great two-handed variants) and full themed armor progressions — Hood/Tunic of Death’s Call as the base set, then Frozen Champion, Plaguebringer, Crimson Guard, Icebound Knight, Blightbringer and Crimson Knight sets. It also adds its own runeblade-specific jewelry (Ring/Necklace of the Eternal Winter, Signet of Death, Ring of Bloodthirst, etc.) and a custom Decaying enchantment that boosts Unholy and Blood Spell Power damage.
The three specs are genuinely distinct kits, not palette swaps:
- Tome of Vampiric Knowledge (Blood, Tank) — self-sustain via lifesteal. Death Strike and Marrowrend deal hybrid physical+blood damage; Death Strike heals 10% max HP (or grants equivalent absorption at full health); Marrowrend stacks a Marrowshield Resistance buff that’s consumed by incoming hits; Blood Boil applies Blood Plague, a DoT that heals the Death Knight when they damage an infected target.
- Tome of Unholy Teachings (Unholy, single-target DPS) — a disease-stacking rotation. Festering Strike applies/stacks a random disease (Festering Wound → Atrocious/Grievous Plague, which reduce enemy damage and healing respectively); Death Coil detonates disease stacks on the target and spreads a stack to nearby uninfected enemies; Epidemic detonates stacks on all nearby targets at once; Death Grip is a pull-and-slow.
- Tome of the Eternal Winter (Frost, multi-target DPS) — “easy to understand but the hardest of all three to master” per the quest text. Obliterate/Frost Strike deal physical+frost damage and can shatter icicles off frozen targets; Remorseless Winter is a constant frost-damage aura with a freeze chance; Agonizing Breath is a frontal frost cone.
Depends on Necronomicon and Eternal Attributes (both also in this pack), and requires Java 21+ bytecode support. attribute.name.death_knights.blood_power / unholy_power are the mod’s two custom spell-power attributes that gear can roll.
