Fast Travel & Waystones
Prominence II is a huge world, and you are not meant to walk everywhere. The intended fast-travel backbone is Fabric Waystones, backed up by the waypoint system in Xaero’s Minimap / Xaero’s World Map. See Getting Started for the first-hour version of this.
Waystones — the main system
A waystone is a tall carved block. You bind to one by walking up to it and right-clicking, which discovers it and adds it to your network. From then on you can open any waystone (or a linked device) and warp to any waystone you’ve already discovered.
- Finding them: on this server waystones generate naturally in villages — one per village — wired into dozens of the pack’s custom village variants. So exploring toward any village is a reliable way to grow your network. They’re also craftable if you’d rather place your own at a base.
- You must visit a waystone in person to bind it — discovering waystones from a map item is turned off here. No shortcut; go there once, then it’s a warp target forever.
- Cost: every jump costs a flat 1 XP level, no matter how far you’re travelling (distance is free; it’s a flat fee). Keep a level or two banked before a long-distance hop.
- Anyone can break a waystone on this server, so if you place private ones, put them somewhere claimed (see Getting Started on Open Parties and Claims).
Waypoints — the map layer
Xaero’s Minimap and Xaero’s World Map (default map key M) let you drop waypoints anywhere and see them on both the corner minimap and the full map. These don’t teleport you — they’re navigation markers — but they pair naturally with waystones: mark a dungeon or ore vein you found, warp to the nearest waystone, then walk the last stretch to your waypoint.
- Death points are automatic here — a waypoint is dropped where you last died, which works hand-in-hand with your grave (see Death, Graves & Recovery).
- Waypoints and death points are shared between the minimap and world map.
Sharing & multiplayer
- Waystone networks are per player — you each discover your own. Everyone binding the same village waystones effectively gives the whole group a shared warp hub, so it’s worth agreeing on a few “home” waystones.
- Join a party (FTB Teams) early so quest progress and group play line up — see Getting Started.
Practical routine
- Every time you pass a village, tag its waystone (right-click) so it’s on your network.
- Keep 1–2 XP levels spare for warping home in a hurry.
- Drop a waypoint on anything you’ll want to return to.
- Build a personal waystone at your base (in claimed land) so you always have a way home.
Anticipated questions
Do I lose the waystone if someone breaks it? Your discovered network is stored on you, but you can only warp to waystones that still exist. Anyone can break waystones on this server, so protect ones you rely on with a land claim.
How much does teleporting cost? A flat 1 XP level per jump, regardless of distance.
Can I teleport straight to a waystone I’ve only seen on the map? No — map-based discovery is disabled here. You have to stand at a waystone and right-click it once to bind it.
Is there any other fast travel? Nether portals still work as the vanilla long-distance shortcut, and some dimensions have their own transit — but for the Overworld, waystones plus waypoints are the system. There’s no /tp for regular players.
Waystones vs. waypoints — what’s the difference? Waystones physically teleport you (for 1 level). Xaero’s waypoints are just map markers you navigate toward; they don’t move you.
