Getting Started

The very first Quest Book chapter, and the pack’s built-in tutorial. You are a flameborn, created and sent by S’kellak into the Overworld to seek answers. This chapter walks you through the questbook itself and every core system you’ll rely on for the rest of the run. Do it first; most other chapters assume you’ve read it. See also the systems overview in Getting Started (Systems note).

Walkthrough (key quests in order)

  • First Steps / Enter the Overworld — Introduces the Quest Book. Left side of a quest = tasks to do, right side = rewards. Open it via the book icon at the top-left of your inventory. The Quest Chapters screen is reached by closing a quest and moving your cursor to the left.
  • Find a fruit or vegetable — Nudges you toward eating early; hunger matters more here than vanilla (Croptopia adds a huge range). See Food, Farming & Cooking Mods.
  • Craft a Chest — Chests are later upgradeable. Mine copper and use a Blank Chest Upgrade to make a copper upgrade. Storage is its own progression track — see Storage & Inventory Mods.
  • Backpacks (Traveler’s Backpack) — Equip via the Equip icon, open with B. Upgradeable through tiers; special backpacks appear in loot chests. Search @traveler in the REI/EMI search bar to see variants. Press R / U over any item for its Recipe / Uses.
  • Use a Waystone — The intended fast-travel system. Waystones generate in villages and are craftable; right-click to bind/teleport.
  • World Map & claiming — Press M for the World Map. Right-click a chunk and “Claim Selected” to claim it. Watch for server claim limits.
  • Talent Tree — Press N. You get a talent point every 2 levels. Reset with a Knowledge Scroll (consumed on use, refunds points). This is the main progression method alongside leveling — see Talent Tree & Fate Talents.
  • Obtain an Anvil / Reforging — All tools roll a random rarity affecting stats. Improve it via the anvil’s second tab using a tool-specific material plus one of the 3 ores. See Gear Rarity & Reforging.
  • Leveling (Player Level) — Shown top-left of the inventory; grows from combat and boss kills, raises max health, and gates certain boss fights. This is separate from the vanilla XP level on your hotbar. See Progression & Level Caps.
  • Level caps tied to Campaign — 1–10 unlocked by default; 11–50 unlocked by defeating the first boss of the Void’s Invasion campaign; 51–65 unlocked by starting the Hasturian Era campaign. Level 65 is the current maximum.
  • The Wiki — Points you to rpg.prominence.wiki for deeper guides (link isn’t clickable in-game).
  • Tutorial questlines / Eternal Knowledge — Flags the tutorial chapters as essential reading, and hints they are the way to obtain “Eternal Knowledge.”
  • Parties (Open Parties and Claims) — /openpac-parties create, invite with /openpac-parties member invite [Name], enable PvP with /opacpvp (both players must enable it).

Tips

  • Rewards in this chapter are mostly cosmetic/quality-of-life (e.g. a music disc, backpack tank) — the real payoff is understanding the systems.
  • Do the Talent Tree, Reforging, and Leveling reading quests properly; they save a lot of confusion later.

Anticipated questions

  • Why can’t I level past 10 (or 50)? Your level cap is tied to campaign progress. Beat the first Void’s Invasion boss for 11–50, and start the Hasturian Era for 51–65.
  • Player Level vs the number on my hotbar? Player Level (top-left of inventory) is the RPG level that gates bosses and health. The hotbar number is vanilla experience — different thing.
  • How do I reset my talents? Use a Knowledge Scroll; it’s consumed and refunds all your points.
  • How do I improve a tool’s rarity? Reforge in the anvil’s second tab with a tool-specific material and one of the 3 ores.
