Talent Tree & Fate Talents

Press N to open your Talent Tree — the single most important menu in the pack, and the main tool for actually building your character.

Powered by the mods Pufferfish’s Skills and Pufferfish’s Attributes (see Core RPG & Combat Mods).

How it works

  • You earn 1 talent point every 2 character levels (see Progression & Level Caps). At the level 65 cap that’s roughly 32 points to spend.
  • Points spend on stat boosts (the stats your build needs) and unlocked abilities throughout the tree.
  • Fate Talents are big keystone picks unlocked at level thresholds, near the top of the tree — these are what actually define your build. You commit to your build’s Fate once you’re high enough level; the quest build-guides call this “now that you’ve reached enough level to get a Fate Talent, choose X.”
  • Pick the Fate Talent matching your chosen archetype.

Fate Talents by build (from the in-game build guides)

Fire / Frost / Arcane MageFire / Frost / Arcane Archmage
Runic / Astral MageKnowledge of Runes and Stars (grants Astral Power)

These are grounded in the New Mechanics / build-guide quest chapter; verify the exact node names in-game as the tree is periodically tuned.

Respeccing

A Knowledge Scroll is consumed on use and fully resets your tree, refunding every point spent. Nothing here is a permanent choice — experiment freely, especially early on. It does not touch your Player Level or campaign progress, only your talent point allocation.

Beyond the main tree: weapon / artifact skill trees

Several legendary/artifact weapons have their own separate skill trees via Puffish Skills, unlocked by obtaining that specific weapon. Categories present in this install: thunderwrath, apophis, orion, vaazkar, supernova, azhar, fyralath, ekavar_staff, plus the main prom tree.

  • Open an artifact’s tree the same way: press N, then click the Molten Core icon at the top-left.
  • Each artifact tree has up to 7 nodes with branching paths; you unlock nodes by empowering the artifact with Molten Remnants (quest rewards, or crafted from Mythical Essences). See Artifacts.
  • This is a big chunk of true endgame character power, layered on top of the standard Talent Tree.

Common mistakes

  • Hoarding talent points. Spend them — early points are cheap flexibility and a Knowledge Scroll refunds everything anyway.
  • Picking a Fate that doesn’t match your gear/runes. Fate + armor set + rune family + stat priority should all point the same way.
  • Confusing the artifact skill tree with the main tree. They’re separate; the artifact tree lives behind the Molten Core icon and uses Molten Remnants, not talent points.

I updated the pack and my artifact tree has a stat I didn’t pick — can I fix it? The Artifact Reforging chapter notes you can reset an artifact skill tree once for free (e.g. /puffish_skills skills reset @s puffish_skills:frostmourne). Check the relevant quest for your artifact.
